Support > Flash4D > Putting the Flash onto Your Website

I Have a Question About Putting the Flash onto Your Website: (change)
Select the item below that you have a question about.

1. How do I put a Flash intro onto a e107 content management system website?

After copying all of the design files to your website you should add the html code from the index.html page that starts with an html tag of text written as '' and ends with ''. It should be about a paragraph-size of html code. You can view the html code of the index.html file which is in the Flash_Design_Folder by opening the index.html file with Internet Explorer by double clicking it, then select the View menu at the top of the Internet Explorer window and the 'Source' item from the menu.

After copying the code, paste this code into a new page created with e107 as a html code snippet (it might be called instead by a button like 'insert html code').

An important thing to note is: If the new page is created in the same folder on the website as the Flash files then the Flash design should show, however if the page with the html code is not in the same folder on the website as the Flash files you copied to your website, then the Flash may not show.

2. Linking the design to my website: how do I copy a Flash design to my website?

To add a Flash intro to your site you would first need to copy the files created, these files should be in a folder on your desktop called Flash_Design_Folder, and put these files onto your website. You can do this using an easy File Transfer Protocol application (FTP) which basically acts as a way to copy files to your website.

Try a www.Google.com search for "FTP" if you would like more information on this copying method which there are applications available to do it.

3. How do I upload or put my website or intro files online?

To upload your website you'll first need a website host, also known as a
place to put your files online. If you already have this, that's great. If
not, you can get hosting for free with advertising or buy it from any
hosting company (and there's thousands of them from $1 a month to $25+ a
month). To find a hosting company, try a google search for "hosting company"
to get a list of possible companies to buy website hosting from. For free
website hosting companies see:
http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Web_Space/

After you have a website host, they can offer tutorials on how to upload
files (aka put files on your website) and that's what you can do with either
FileZilla or Smart FTP. Basically the process is the same in either two,
you:

1. Connect to your website with the login details provided using either of
the programs.

2. Select the folder on your desktop titled something like "flash_intro_folder" or
"flash_website" (or any other name that has your created) in the
file browser in either program ( should normally be on the left side and
lets you browse the files on your computer ).

3. Locate the green --> arrow or upload button for putting the folder on
your desktop. You also can alternatively drag and drop the folder after
selecting it on the left side and drop it on the right side inside your
website folder.

For details about FileZilla visit:

http://homebusiness-websites.com/myarchives/2005/04/filezilla_basic.html

For tutorials about SmartFTP visit:
http://www.smartftp.com/support/howto/

Alternatively any website hosting company you may already have or get soon
may provide tutorials or further support for uploading. Adding files to your
website is the core of website hosting, so your website host will be able to
help you with more specific details that relate to their hosting.

4. How do I add a Flash intro created with Flash4D to my Flash Website created with the IntroWizard Flash Website Builder?

To put the Flash intro on your site without overwriting the index.html file, do this:

(If your Flash website is not yet already online, go ahead and put it on your website using the method you currently use to put files on your website.)

1. Rename the current index.html file on your site to main.html. This is renaming your Flash website's index.html page so that it can be shown after the Flash intro.

2. Create your Flash intro and type 'http://www.Your-Website-Name.com/main.html' for the Page to Show After the Design area in Flash4D. Replace the www.Your-Website-Name.com with your actual website name.

3. Take the intro just created that will go to the page main.html after it, and put it onto your website.

4. Now that the intro is on your website and the Flash website is on too, go check to see that the intro plays before the Flash website by visiting your website. That's all that needs to be done.

-------
Some Notes:
-------
*If you visit your website after following these instructions and still see your Flash website, make sure you renamed the Flash website's index.html file to main.html

*If you visit your website and see the Flash intro, but after clicking Enter you get a 404, Page Not Found error or don't go to your Flash website, check Step 2 above. You also might want to see if your Flash website is located at that main.html page if you type the full url location in and visit that page.

*If you experience any trouble, consider following the instructions above again or Contact IntroWizard.

5. How to take an intro created with Flash4D and add it to a Frontpage website?

1.) Open the Flash_Design_Folder where your intro is located in. The intro Flash file is the flash.swf one. The music Flash file is the bombay_sunset.swf (which it quite good music if I may add).

2.) Keep the Flash_Design_folder window open, now go to your computer and locate your website folder which Frontpage stores the website files. You should see an index.htm file in this folder.

3.) Next, go back to the Flash_Design_Folder and locate the file: index.html in it. The filename should be renamed to index.htm (notice the missing 'l' at the end) so that it will overwrite the good code in it over the current page that is not playing. This is the next step.

4.) After renaming the index.html file to index.htm, please copy the three files: index.htm, flash.swf, bombay_sunset.swf from the Flash_Design_Folder to your website files folder. When you copy the files over, it will ask if you want to replace the index.htm file that is currently in there. Select 'Yes'. This is where the code that works will replace the code that isn't currently working.

5.) Now that you have copied the files, open Microsoft Frontpage and publish your website. If you wish, you can just publish the three files: (index.htm, flash.swf, and Example-Some-Music-Title-Example.swf) which should now be in the folder that has the website files. Basically this publishing is taking the files from your website files folder and putting them online.

6.) Last, check www.YourWebsite.com (or the url to your website) once you are done publishing and the intro should play on the Flash intro page. If it doesn't play, or you continue to experience trouble, please review the steps above to make sure everything was done. Consider skimming through the process a second time if needed.

6. How can I add a Flash intro to my Frontpage website? I'm using Front Page?

A Flash intro can be placed onto a frontpage site. This can be as simple as moving or copying the Flash intro design folder with your created intro to your frontpage website folder. Then publish your website with Frontpage.

You can also copy the Flash intro files created with Flash4D ( www.introwizard.com/flash4d/ ) and add them to your website folder, then publish your website with Frontpage (File Menu > Publish)

If you're interested in purchasing Flash4D you may do so online for as little as $49 for Home Edition. You can even save a bit by starting your purchase from the trial.

7. Does Flash4D work with FrontPage 2003?

Flash4D does work with FrontPage 2003. It's really quite easy, simply move the intro files from the folder they are in to your FrontPage website files.

You will need to rename the current file on your FrontPage 2003 called index.html to main.html or another suitable name. Then copy the files created by Flash4D to your FrontPage website folder on your desktop.

-------
Note: FrontPage 2003 is created by MicroSoft and is not affiliated with IntroWizard Technologies in any way.

8. How do I send my Flash4D intro to my website using the Cute FTP program? AKA how do I upload my intro to my website using Cute FTP?

Summing it up in a sentence, all you need to do is upload the flashintrofolder on your desktop in Cute FTP to your website. Now explaining that further on your desktop you will have the intro files, the webpage and intro files have already been created and are in the folder on your desktop called 'flashintrofolder'. Since you use Cute FTP, it has a 'sent to website' button, also known as the upload arrow, so if you navigate one of the windows (the left if I am correct) that displays your computer files after logging in to your website (on the right window in Cute FTP you'll see your website files or folders) you should find your desktop folder known as flashintrofolder and upload (aka publish, send, put) the folder contents onto your website, and even the folder itself if you want to do that too. That really is it, after that you can access your intro on your website by typing in your website url and the location of the folder and files or just the files, depending on what you uploaded.

E.g. http://www.YourWebsiteName.com/flashintrofolder/
or
http://www.YourWebsiteName.com/index.html (the index.html document from the flashintrofolder)

9. Troubleshooting A Problem: Can't hear any music after I created an intro.

Causes:
Possible causes to the problem of not hearing the music could be one of the following:
  1. The computer speakers are not on, or not responding.
  2. The No Music button has been selected from the Customization window.
  3. The Mute button has been selected in the intro. In this case, the button should have changed to the word Play?.

Solutions:
Current available solutions include making sure the speakers on the computer are on. If so, then assuring that a Music item has been selected to play, and that the No Music button has not been pressed as to remove the currently selected music item and replace it with no music.

10. Uploading & What To Do With Intro After I create it?

View these tutorials here to help you understand how to upload and publish intros online, and error solvers all here:

11. I put the index.html file on my website but the flash won't show. How do I get the flash to show on my page?

Consider uploading the entire Flash design folder if possible to one location. This could help make sure your design shows when you access the Flash_Design_Folder's index.html file you should see the design.

12. How can I upload the intro on a site to have the intro there and when I type in the site name the intro comes up without giving it an extra link?

IntroWizard has some uploading tutorials available under our tutorials section of the support website, check them out here: http://support.introwizard.com/?a=tutorials

13. How do I upload the intro to my website or send as an email attachment?

To get your intro onto your website it would be suggested you upload all the files to the same folder or location on your website. If you already have a method of putting files onto your website, go ahead and use that method for putting your intro files onto your website. This method could be an upload form, a ftp program, or some other method. To send it as an email attachment, you can zip up all the files in the folder created on your desktop and email the zipped folder.

14. How can I avoid a perpetual loop with the skip intro or the enter button? The intro just keeps on showing over and over.

You can open the index.html file (in Macromedia DreamWeaver, Microsoft Frontpage, or Notepad Text Editor) that is created by IntroWizard which also creates your flash file (.swf). If you edit the skip intro link and change it to your main webpage (i.e. http://www.YourWebsiteHere-Example.com/MainPage.html ) and then save the file and upload it, you will see that when you click the skip intro it will not loop back to the intro, but will move on to the first page of your website.

15. How can I add a Flash intro to my e-commerence website store? I am using an ecommerence script and would like to have a Flash intro on the front page of my store.

You might want to also try to see if there is a headers / footers section for the homepage where you can add html to in the e-commerence website store script you are using.

This is where you would copy the Flash html code from the sample index.html provided with the Flash file to the homepage header (make sure it is only for the homepage and not for every page).

Then if you do this, put the other files that are in the same folder with the sample index.html onto your website.

Also consider checking the help and support section of the ecommerence script company's website to see if they have an answer already posted in their community or help database.

16. When I put the intro files onto my website (index.html,intro.swf, etc.), should I re-name my current index.html file to a different name so that it doesn't get replaced?

Yes, you should change the name of your current index file. If that file is what you would like your visitors to see after they have viewed your intro, then name it the page you have set as your Enter Button Go To URL. This white blank was found on the Customization window and should have had the value 'http://' in it, which you can change to the full location of your current index file that you renamed to something like firstpage.html or something like that.

17. How do I link the Flash enter button to my webpage in a Flash intro?

To link the Flash enter to your webpage with a Flash intro from Flash4D v4.4 (the program with the light blue background), try this:

1. Obtain a free trial of Flash4D from ( www.introwizard.com/downloads/flash4d.php ).
2. Install and open the trial software.
3. Select a design and then customize it with your own text.
4. Where it says 'Page to Show After the Design' type in the full location to your webpage you would like the Flash to be linked too. For example, you can type: http://www.YourWebsiteExampleName.com/main.html
5. Create the Flash intro and locate the Flash intro files on your desktop in a new folder. You will need to rename your current index.html page to something like main.html so that you can copy the Flash intro files to the folder on your computer that has your website files.

Once the created Flash intro files from your desktop have been copied to your website folder, you can put all the website files online and go view your intro! It should come up first, and then you can click enter and you will be directed to your Home Page which is now called main.html.

18. When I go to my website to view the intro after updated it, I see what I had before not the updated intro?

Try going to the site and pressing the button F5 on the keyboard to refresh the window (or just go to the View menu and clicking the Refresh item in your internet browser).

If this does not show you the updated design, first check to see if the updated design was put in the same location as the original design. Try putting the updated design in the same location. Or to make sure, try a new location. You can do this by renaming the Flash design folder (where the design is stored) and then putting it and everything in it on your website.

19. Flash is blank, it doesn't show and right-click it says something like 'Movie Loading...'

Put all the Flash files from the flashintrofolder or the flash_design_folder online to view the design.

20. How would I email my intro to my website master or web builder?

If you're interested in emailing your intro to your web builder, email the intro folder on your desktop (should be called: flashintrofolder). You can zip the folder up and email it to your web builder, or you can simply email the files in the folder to your web builder. If your web builder is not familiar with Flash4D, you can also send them a link to the iW Tutorial section which should help them here: http://support.introwizard.com/?a=tutorials

21. Is it possible to add an intro to an Invision Power Board Forum? If so, how?

Yes it is possible, but it requires editing the template html of your board. Basically, instead of editing the board's html and adding content, you would add the intro coding and simply upload the intro into the forum board. In the administration panel go to Skins and Templates, then Manage HTML Templates, then click Manage HTML from the right window, click the Expand to Edit area of one of the zones you would like to place your intro, and then click Edit of one of the areas under the zone. You'll then be greeted with an html box filled with some html already, this is your current forum html, you can add in the html code from your intro webpage (index.html) that should be in your desktop 'flashintrofolder' folder. Copy the code starting with , the code should look like this (not exactly though):

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/<br>cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"
width="550" height="320"><PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="intro.swf"><PARAM
NAME=quality VALUE=high><PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE="000000">
<EMBED src="intro.swf" quality=high bgcolor="#000000" WIDTH="550"
HEIGHT="320"<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE="000000">TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED></OBJECT>

Then press Update this File at the bottom of the page, and you're done, make sure to upload the intro files in the same folder as your forum, and you will be a-ok to view your intro in your forum area that you added it into.

22. Yahoo Geocities: Do Flash4D intros work well with Yahoo Geocities websites?

Yes, Flash4D intros work excellent with Yahoo Geocites. Check the Yahoo Pagebuilder help documentation for how to add Flash.

23. I don't hear any music or see a music button the first time I view my intro, but after I refresh my intro, I can hear the music. How can I fix this?

Consider downloading the latest version of your software from the customer center to fix this.

Please visit:
http://www.introwizard.com/customers/retreive-software.php
And select the product you own from the list. In this case, this may be Flash4D v4.

24. How do I uninstall and remove a Flash4D intro from my website?

To uninstall the Flash intro from your website, you'll need to delete the files index.html, intro.swf, and music swf (has the name of the music item used) that are on your website along with any other files that may have been put on the website along with the intro. That may be all that you will need to do depending on whether you would like another webpage to show instead of the intro after you have removed it.

If you would like to have a different page display instead of the intro, then, you will need to rename the webpage file that you would like to have show instead of the Flash intro to index.html (unless the Flash webpage was renamed in the customization process of Flash4D.

Basically there are two steps to removing an intro from a website, delete the four files that are all in the same folder (index.html, intro.swf, music swf file [has the name of the music item used], along with any other files that may have been put on the website along with the intro

Then if wanted rename the file webpage you would like to show in place of the intro to index.html (notice the 'html' in the extension). The second step may be needed depending on the page you would rather like to be the first page of your website (that the visitor sees when they go to your domain or sub-domain site depending on where the intro is located).

25. I don't want to replace my current index.html page with the intro index.html which shows the intro. What should I do to have the intro show before my webpage and how do I link them together?

Before adding the intro to your website you
should change the name of your current index file to something like
firstpage.html.

If that file is what you would like your visitors to see after they have
viewed your intro, then name it the page you have set as your Enter Button
Go To URL. This white blank was found on the Customization window and should
have had the value 'http://' in it, which you can change to the full
location of your current index file that you renamed to something like
firstpage.html or something like that.

Simply said:

Try renaming your current index.html page to main.html and then adding all the intro files (including the intro's index.html) to your website.

The intro should then play when you view your website, and if you link the intro to go to main.html afterwards, then you'll have the intro linked up with your current website.

26. The Flash intro and Flash website I created are taking forever to load. What can I do to fix this?

Make sure all the files created on the desktop folders from both the Flash4D intro builder and the Flash website builder are put online. Consider doing a test first, try putting all the files from both folders (Flash intro folder and the Flash website folder both available on the desktop) in a test folder on your website and accessing both of them like: www.YourWebsite.com/testfolder/flashintro/index.html
and
www.YourWebsite.com/testfolder/flashwebsite/index.html

Both the intro and website should come up. Consider making sure all the files from both desktop folders are put online (this includes things like intro.swf, index.html, music.swf from the Flash intro folder and index.html, site.swf and any images that may be included).

27. How do I replace the older Flash4D Flash intro I put on my website with a newer Flash4D intro I created?

To insert a Flash intro onto your website to replace what is currently there, simply:

1. Create the new Flash intro with Flash4D that you would like to replace the old one with.
2. Look to your desktop for the Flash intro file created in a folder called something like "Flash Intro Design." The Flash intro file in that folder is called flash.swf. If you don't find it, click the Windows Start Menu and select Search and 'For Files or Folders...' and type in flash.swf, then see which one you want from the results.
3. Put the flash.swf file on your website simply by using the method you currently use to add files to your website.

28. How do I add keywords to my intro?

I believe there isn't a feature in Flash4D for adding Keywords, although
this can easily be done to the webpage afterwards by adding this HTML tag to
the index.html page right before the html tag that is automatically
created to show your intro:

<meta name="keywords" content="Your, Keywords, Here">

You can easily edit the index.html webpage that shows your intro by viewing
it in Internet Explorer and then clicking View from the File Menu and select
Source... then look for the html tag and add the keyword code
above and close and save the file.

29. When I click enter the Flash repeats itself instead of going to my website's next page.

The Flash also repeats itself when you click the enter button because the link that is set for the enter button to go to is the same page the Flash is on, so what it does is it will go to the same page and repeat the Flash. What you should do is set the Enter Button link to be: http://www.YourWebsite.com/TheNextOrMainPage.html so that it goes to that when the Enter button is clicked. This is called the page to go to after the enter button is clicked in the Flash4D program.

30. How can I get the intro onto my website by FTP upload, Frontpage Publishing, or any other way?

1. First locate where the intro is stored on your computer. It should be in a folder on your desktop named something like Flash-design or Flash-intro-folder.

2. If you have your website stored on your computer, move the files (index.html, intro.swf, music.swf) from the intro folder on your desktop to your website folder where your website files are stored on your computer. You may need to rename your current index.html page to something like main.html, and then link to this with Flash4D as the page to see after the intro.

3. Update your website with the files from your computer by FTP upload, Frontpage publish or any way you use to get files on your website. These updated files now include (main.html, index.html, intro.swf, music.swf). main.html should be the page you would like visitors to see after the intro plays. You should make sure to set this as the page to see after the intro in Flash4D when creating your intro.

4. Check to see if your intro is online at your website. If not, examine the steps again. Good troubleshooting may also involve checking to see if the files are on your computer by viewing them (like the index.html file) on your computer or on the website. Check to see if the intro.swf is on the website by accessing it with a web browser.

31. How can I remove an intro from my website?

What you will need to do is delete the page index.html which is the intro page and then rename your main page of your website to index.html to replace the deleted intro page.

So the steps are:
1. Make sure the index.html file is the intro page (has the skip intro link on it).
1.5. Delete index.html ONLY after make sure this is the intro page. As a safety measure you can rename it to something like index-old.html instead of deleting it.
2. Find your main page to your site, the one you want visitors to see first
3. Rename or move this page to be index.html
4. Check to see if you see your main page when you go to your website.
