1. Is it possible to change the images in the design?
Indeed it is possible to change the pictures in
the flash intros. To do so, using the latest purchase version of Flash4D
which is version 4, when customizing an intro you will be given an
opportunity to add images to the available image spots. This area of the
customization process is located under the Images item in the Customize
screen. Clicking the 'Browse...' button next to the image box, you will be
able to select a Jpeg image from your computer to use. After selecting you
can also change some of the image options available in version 4.
2. Do any intro support my own images?
Yes, most design templates do support using your own images with Flash4D.
If you're using images created by someone other than you or that has a person's face in the image, remember to ask permission to use the image. Best be on the good side of the image copyright holder.
3. Why won't my images show in the intros? I'm using jpeg images, but my images will not work with the Flash intros.
The graphics option for intros is available for 'jpeg' images, this which you should know by using the software, although the jpeg images must be saved as 'baseline optimized', or any format other than 'progressive', as progressive jpeg images will not show up in Flash files due to the program's nature. Consider looking into your graphics editor software for how to re-save your images as 'baseline optimized' or a format other progressive.
4. Max Image Size? Is there a maximum image size for the images in intros? Also, what DPI is good?
There is no image size max, although about 300 x 300 pixels (about 2x2 or so inches-wise) is a good size for images in intros.
Image DPI (Dots Per Inch) is best suited for on screen viewing, 72 dpi will work great.
5. Images do not show up when I preview the Flash, what can I do to have them show?
Flash can only support non-progressive j-peg images, so non-progressive is what you want jpeg images to be saved as.
Most jpeg images are saved as non progressive unless specified to be saved otherwise (with the major graphics editor Photoshop).
If you load up a jpeg image into your intro, if it doesn't play and it truly is a jpeg (e.g. you didn't rename a .gif to a .jpeg) then resave the image as a non-progressive image.
If you can edit the images you have and save them as non-progressive images then use them, then everything will work. Look for this option of saving as a j-peg without the progressive feature on the save screen of your graphics editor software.
If you don't know how to save them non-progressive, please see the help file of your graphics editor (search for the word "progressive" or "save progressvie")
6. Instructions for making smaller images for Flash4D
If possible, try shrinking the size of the images and then using them again. You should use an image editor to do this. Microsoft Paint is free and is installed on Windows computers. To access this image editor, go to your start menu then Program. Then click the Accessories folder or the two arrows pointing down if you do not see the Accessories folder in the Program folder list. In the Accessories item, look for a program called Paint. Double-click it to open Microsoft Paint.
In Microsoft Paint, click the File menu and then Open... to select one of the images you would like to use in the design. Open this image for editing. Then select the Image menu and the item Stretch/Skew. When this Stretch and Skew box appears, type in a smaller percent for the Horizontal and Vertical Stretching. Type in 50 in both the blanks to shrink the image. Then press OK.
After that, select the File menu and the Save As... item to save this smaller image. Give it a name a bit different than the original larger image. Consider something like 'original_name_here smaller image'. From the drop down box, select the JPEG option. Then click Save.
Now repeat this process for the other images you would like to use with Flash4D and then start up Flash4D and select these smaller images to use when you get to the Images part of the Customization window.
7. Do any intros support my own images?
Yes, most intros included in Flash4D v4 support images with the text messages.
8. When using images with Flash4D the file size becomes very huge? Why?
When using images with the Flash intros, the file size increases to a great extent in Flash4D v4.0. This is because the images are being added to the design where the high quality image placeholders are.
To minimize the file size for a smaller intro, use a few images to a couple of images if you would like to use images since the file size issue is related to the placeholder images and not based simply on the quality of the images being used.
9. What is the 'X' I see over my image in the top right corner in Flash4D?
The x in the top right corner is okay to have over the image. This x is a feature that can be clicked to delete the image. If you use images with your flash simply leave the x over them. Simply note that the images won't show in the flash unless they have the x over them when you're using your stock images or jpegs.
Also, if you see the white placeholders instead of your image, that means no image will show where they are.
Describing further:
The 'X' you see in the top right corner (if you put your mouse over it, it will say the word Delete next to this boxed 'X') is actually a button that when clicked it will remove the image currently set in that Image slot. When the image is removed, you should see this white placeholder spot labeled with the words 'your image here'. If you use a stock image or your own images, make sure you can see the image in that preview graphic area with the delete X in the top right corner. Try previewing when you have your images there (click the '(2) Preview' button) and let me know if you see the images in your preview.
10. Can I change the text size or image size with Flash4D?
The Flash4D v4.4 software includes a Detailed Design Program (which has a different set of designs than Flash4D v4.4). This additional software includes the ability to change the text color, font, size, and even image size and tint color.
To open the detailed Design program, go to the Start Menu > Programs > Flash4D v4 > and select the Flash4D v4 Extra Detailed Design Program.
You also can start up Flash4D v4.4 and select to create a Flash Intro. Then click the bottom right icon that says 'Flash4D Detailed Design Program.'
