Support > Flash4D > Fla Files and Modifying SWF Files

I Have a Question About Fla Files and Modifying SWF Files: (change)
Select the item below that you have a question about.

1. Edit .FLA file? How can I?

Text Tutorial:
To use a .FLA file you will need to start Flash4D and click the 'Get the .FLA' button or simply open this directory on your computer:
C:\Program Files\Intro Wizard Technologies\Flash4D Professional Edition\flas\

To open the .FLA files you will need to use a free trial of Macromedia Flash < http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ >. Once you download the free 30 day trial of Flash MX, you can open the .FLA file to an intro file.

Once open, you can navigate through the editing file using the timeline. Click and drag the red box that looks like this: []
and you will move through the timeline. Double click on the intro text to edit it, and you can add images by using the File >> Import command.

Once you are done editing, you can go to Control >> Test Movie and it will build the intro .SWF file which is what you upload to your website.

2. How do I modify the .swf files created by Flash 4D?

The .swf files cannot be fully modified but you can instead load the design back into Flash 4D.

You can do this by starting Flash4D. Then select the File >> Open... and go to the Flash_Design_Folder which has the .swf in it that Flash 4D created. This folder should be on your desktop. Select the .f4s file in the Flash_Design_Folder and the design will be editable again in Flash 4D.

3. Can I save an intro as a Fla in Flash 4D Professional?

Currently such a method is to edit the intro's included Fla file with Macromedia(R) Flash(R) and then send the edited file to your client. (Or should I say "clients" since you can work with more than one Fla file for more than one client.) ;)

Flash4D Professional offers the Flas to all of the designs which can be easily accessed from the Flash4D Design Menu and are categorized in folders labeled with the Design Packs.

If you're looking to keep things easy, you can use Flash4D to create the designs and then save the editing file that is produced in the same folder as your design for future use. To reedit the design, simply use the File > Open in Flash4D and select this Edited Design file that is in the intro's folder.

Please note on the music with the design, Q-Music.co.uk, the current source of the music in Flash4D gives you free use of the music for a client project and a project for yourself, otherwise you can purchase additional licenses to the music at www. q-music .co .uk -- You can always disable the music though.

4. Does Flash4D create the .FLA editing file after building an intro?

No, a .FLA editing file is not created after building an intro with Flash4D, however Flash4D Professional Edition ( http://www.introwizard.com/flash4d/professional.php ) includes the .FLA editing files to the intro styles which can be edited in Macromedia Flash (R) and changed to your liking without using the application of Flash4D itself, but instead using the .FLA styles included with the application. Please note, the .FLA editing files and related Macromedia Flash (R) files are not included in the trial copy of Flash4D Professional Edition; only the full version.

5. How can I mix different Fla designs together with Macromedia(R) Flash(R)?

Thank you for your message. To mix different Fla designs together, using Macromedia(R) Flash(R) open both designs you would like to use certain parts from, and select the entire timeframe you would like to copy into another design. Then do a Edit >> Copy Frames (Ctrl+Alt+C) and then open the design you would like to add the part you have selected into, select the place to add it too (the easiest place is the end of the design, to insert in the middle you'll have to break items that are in the part you would like to select) and then select Edit >> Paste Frames (Ctrl+Alt+V).

I'd recommend taking advantage of this feature with Flash4D Professional if you have the desire and also have and use Macromedia(R) Flash(R). If you're looking for ease without the Fla designs, Flash4D Home Edition might be a match for you.

6. What is the password to a Flash file?

Please note the passwords are no longer given out publicly.

With Flash4D v4, passwords for the full version of Flash4D intros should not be needed.

7. Can I edit an intro I created in Flash4D in Macromedia Flash?

Flash4D Home Edition and Professional Editions create the SWF format, which is also created by Macromedia Flash, but cannot be edited by Macromedia Flash.

Flash4D Professional Edition however includes the Macromedia Flash editing files (.FLA) so that you may edit the Flash4D intros as much as you would like -- which even includes creating your own intros from combining two or more, or learning how certain effects are done in Flash4D intros.

If you would like more information on Flash4D Professional Edition, which is the better Edition for an advanced Flash user such as yourself, you can find it here:
http://www.introwizard.com/flash4d/professional.php

8. Can I edit any of the templates with Macromedia Flash(R)?

Yes you can edit any of the templates that Flash4D Professional edition provides. Flash4D Professional Edition contains over 50 Flash .FLA files for you to use in your Macromedia Flash (tm) designs that can be opened and edited in Macromedia Flash (tm). Flash4D Professional also contains over 650 additional 'Developer Extras' to help you out with your designs in Flash and other related web jobs you may get. Flash4D Professional serves as a great idea starter, where you can open a .FLA editing file, take out the items you would like to use, and build your own designs, so it can be a helping hand for designers. More information about Flash4D Professional can be viewed here: < http://www.introwizard.com/flash4d/professional.php > or if you're interested in purchasing it, you may do so starting from this link: < http://www.introwizard.com/store/flash4dpro.php

9. How can I create a Preloader in Macromedia Flash(R) for one of your intro designs from the Get the .FLA area?

Please put these two Actionscript codes on the frames they should be on in Macromedia Flash(R) (they say which ones) to create a preloader.

// Actionscript code for Frame 2
ifFrameLoaded ("Scene 1", 400) {
gotoAndPlay (4);
}

// Actionscript code for Frame 3
gotoAndPlay (2);

You can change the 400 in the ifFrameLoaded and the "Scene 1" to the main scene of the intro, and a frame number that is close to the end of the main scene (to make sure that most of the intro is preloaded).

10. Am I able to edit designs from Flash4D at the code level? Without the password issue? Say with Macromedia Flash MX 2004?

You are correct, you will be able to edit a style at code level using Macromedia Flash from Flash4D Professional Edition. Flash4D Professional Edition contains about 50 Flash .FLA files that you can use in your Flash designs or use as new Flash designs. Flash4D Professional also contains about 650 additional 'Developer Extras' (animations, 3d symbols, and related things) to help you out with your designs in Flash and other related web jobs you may get. Flash4D Professional serves as a great idea starter, where you can open a .FLA editing file, take out the items you would like to use, and build your own designs, it's quite a helping hand for experienced Flash designers. 11. Can I open the Flash designs and intros created by Flash4D in Macromedia(R) Flash(R) MX?

The files created by Flash4D cannot be edited with Macromedia(R) Flash(R) MX.

12. Is It Possible to Edit a Flash Intro After I Created It?

Yes it is possible to edit a Flash4D intro after you have created it.

Simply open the Flash file again for editing by selecting the File menu in Flash4D and open. Then select the flash_design_folder or where the design that you would like to edit is located in and select the file that ends with .f4s

13. What are the .FLA files and how do I open them?

The .FLA files need to be opened with the Macromedia(R) Flash(R) MX application. You can download a trial of Macromedia(R) Flash(R) MX 2004 starting from here and a suggestion would be to purchase it if you enjoy using it and what it can do for you:

http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/
For tutorials on how to use Flash, consider viewing the tutorials located here:

http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Getting_Started/
Now the files under the developer extras folder are the more numerous, but are simply elements and mostly 3d symbols if I can recall correctly. The intro editing files are under the intro related folders. The .FLA files are a bit more of an in-depth part of Flash4D, so feel free to skip it if you don't feel they're necessary to what you want to do with Flash4D.

14. Can I make a change in one of the design .FLA files and then have Flash4D customize it?

With Flash4D v4 this is not possible since certain code Flash4D uses is not available in the .FLA files provided with Flash4D Professional Edition. Although complete changes to a design can still be done to the .FLA file in Macromedia Flash(R) ( You can download a trial of Macromedia Flash(R) starting from this link. Note: registration is required to download and please consider purchasing the software should you like and continue to use it: http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ )

15. What are the Developer Extra Files included with Flash4D Professional and how can I open them?

The Developer extra files can be complement items to a Flash designer, something along the lines of stock photos as they can speed up the process of designing.

There are two different types of Developer Extra files, the editing files of the Developer Extra items (the .FLA extension), and the exported Developer Extra files (the .SWF extension) which can be put into webpage designs using a web developer software.

To access the (.FLA extension) Developer Extra files, which are the editing files, you will have to use Macromedia Flash (R) which you can download a trial of from:
http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/

To access the .SWF extension files in the developer extras area, you can open them with Internet Explorer, from the File >> Open toolbar in Internet Explorer or you can right click on the .swf files and select Open With... >> Choose Program ... Internet Explorer.

16. Can I edit .SWFs that I have already created?

With the Flash4D Professional Version (www.introwizard.com/flash4d/) you can create new intros from the templates included with the program, although you can't open or change SWF files that have already been created.

17. Does Flash4D produce the .FLA Flash files too?

Flash4D Home or Professional Editions don't produce .FLA files as well as the .SWF files although Professional Edition includes the .FLA files to the templates.

The included .FLA files with Flash4D Professional Edition don't have your changes on them but have sample text you can change in Macromedia Flash MX along with other changes you can add like images or take certain items out of the design that you may not want.
