Support > Flash4D > Saving and Opening Designs

I Have a Question About Saving and Opening Designs: (change)
Select the item below that you have a question about.

1. How do I link the Flash intro to the main page of my website?

To link your main page once the Flash has finished, you should use the Enter Button Go To URL blank type-in area in Flash4D's Customization window. For Flash4D v4.4, simply type into the Page to Show After the Design blank where it says 'http://.'

Here's how to get there for the Extra Detailed Design Program. After starting the Extra Detailed Design Program and opening an intro pack, select an intro with the 'Select' button located on the side of the intro, this you might already know, then the Customization window should open. When the customization window opens (it should say Customize at the top), look for the next button at the bottom right of the window. Select the button and then wait a second, and select it again.

You should just have moved two "pages" in the Customization process. Now you should be looking at a page that has the Welcome Message blank type-in area near the top of the window. At about the middle of the window, you should see the Enter Button Go To URL blank type-in area. The type-in area should already have the text http://www. in it. You can delete the text and just type in "main.html" or you can type in the full location to the main.html page if wanted, e.g. http://www.YourWebsite.com/main.html -- then when done, build the intro with the Build button located at the bottom of the page, and you should have the skip intro and the Enter button in the Matrix template linked to your main webpage.

By the way, at the end of the Matrix intro, if you do not see any button still after doing this, then it could very well be set in the Customize window under the "Buttons: Enter" part of Customization that you may have selected "No enter button" grayish button.

2. Images do not show up when I preview the Flash, what can I do to have them show?

Flash can only support non-progressive j-peg images, so non-progressive is what you want jpeg images to be saved as.

Most jpeg images are saved as non progressive unless specified to be saved otherwise (with the major graphics editor Photoshop).

If you load up a jpeg image into your intro, if it doesn't play and it truly is a jpeg (e.g. you didn't rename a .gif to a .jpeg) then resave the image as a non-progressive image.

If you can edit the images you have and save them as non-progressive images then use them, then everything will work. Look for this option of saving as a j-peg without the progressive feature on the save screen of your graphics editor software.

If you don't know how to save them non-progressive, please see the help file of your graphics editor (search for the word "progressive" or "save progressvie")

3. Can I save an intro as a Fla in Flash 4D Professional?

Currently such a method is to edit the intro's included Fla file with Macromedia(R) Flash(R) and then send the edited file to your client. (Or should I say "clients" since you can work with more than one Fla file for more than one client.) ;)

Flash4D Professional offers the Flas to all of the designs which can be easily accessed from the Flash4D Design Menu and are categorized in folders labeled with the Design Packs.

If you're looking to keep things easy, you can use Flash4D to create the designs and then save the editing file that is produced in the same folder as your design for future use. To reedit the design, simply use the File > Open in Flash4D and select this Edited Design file that is in the intro's folder.

Please note on the music with the design, Q-Music.co.uk, the current source of the music in Flash4D gives you free use of the music for a client project and a project for yourself, otherwise you can purchase additional licenses to the music at www. q-music .co .uk -- You can always disable the music though.

4. What format does Flash4D save Flash files in?

Flash4D saves intro files in the .SWF (Macromedia Flash File) format for easy viewing on the web, cd presentations, or any other related uses.

More information on Macromedia Flash can be found on http://www.Macromedia.com/

5. Can I add extra lines or remove text lines from the intro?

Extra lines can't be added to the intro, but if you would like to not have a text line simply don't put any text in the lines you don't want and no text will show in that part of the intro. For just an idea, this can help if you're looking to space text out over the design.

6. I created an intro with the trial of Flash4D but I don't want the Flash4D advert in the corner, so what do I do?

The advertisement seen in intros created with the trial edition of Flash4D can be removed by either purchasing and building the intro with the full version of Flash4D or purchasing the individual intro's "de-adverting" in which the intro file without the ad will be emailed to you. If you would like to purchase Flash4D, please visit this webpage to select a payment gateway, or if you would like an individual intro, that can be purchased starting from this link. Please contact IntroWizard with the name of the individual intro you would like after your purchase.

7. Troubleshooting A Problem: Can't hear any music after I created an intro.

Causes:
Possible causes to the problem of not hearing the music could be one of the following:
  1. The computer speakers are not on, or not responding.
  2. The No Music button has been selected from the Customization window.
  3. The Mute button has been selected in the intro. In this case, the button should have changed to the word Play?.

Solutions:
Current available solutions include making sure the speakers on the computer are on. If so, then assuring that a Music item has been selected to play, and that the No Music button has not been pressed as to remove the currently selected music item and replace it with no music.

8. Trouble viewing the design after creating it. Do you have a solution?

Solution:
After you create a design, go to your computer desktop. Look for a webpage named after your design. The webpage will start with the word 'flapops'. Double-click this file to open it and view your design.

Or... If you created a presentation then look for a folder instead. The folder will have the word 'Presentation' in it. Open this folder. Double-click the 'presentation.exe' file to view the presentation.

9. How do I upload the intro to my website or send as an email attachment?

To get your intro onto your website it would be suggested you upload all the files to the same folder or location on your website. If you already have a method of putting files onto your website, go ahead and use that method for putting your intro files onto your website. This method could be an upload form, a ftp program, or some other method. To send it as an email attachment, you can zip up all the files in the folder created on your desktop and email the zipped folder.

10. I can't find a f5d file for editing my created design again, what the f4s or the f5d file extentions about?

There actually are two features in Flash4D that do similar things but in slightly different ways. The Import Intro feature imports designs not included in the collection (such as new designs) and the other feature is the Load Saved Data feature (accessible from the File Menu >> Open... item) for loading back into Flash4D a previously created design.

Just as a brief overview, the f4s is for the Load Saved Data feature and the f5d is for the Import Intro feature.

11. Can Flash4D version 4 edit movies created in version 2 or 3 (previous versions)?

No, Flash4D version 4 cannot edit Flash intros created in Flash4D version 2 or version 3 or intros created outside of Flash4D.

Flash4D version 4 can edit intros created with Flash4D versio 4 though.

12. How do I open a previously created design or intro?

When opening a previously created intro, if you haven't tried already, consider clicking the File menu and Open item from it. Then, look on your desktop for a folder called Flash_Design_Folder and in it you should see one file (or more) that can be opened. It's the Flash Saved Data file (.f4s file extension). Select this file to Open and you should receive a message saying something like 'The design content has been loaded. Click OK to start customizing it'.

If you receive that message, you have successfully loaded the design and can customize it again.

If you get a 'not loaded' message instead, then this means a file wasn't selected. Click the File menu and the Open item again and then find the Flash Saved Data file in the Flash_Design_Folder on your desktop. If the folder is not available on your desktop, you may have had the design saved in a different location. Consider doing a search (Start menu and Search..) and search for the part of the file name "Flash Saved Data". You'll then have the Saved design data file found if it exists, and it will tell you the folder it's in.

13. Is It Possible to Edit a Flash Intro After I Created It?

Yes it is possible to edit a Flash4D intro after you have created it.

Simply open the Flash file again for editing by selecting the File menu in Flash4D and open. Then select the flash_design_folder or where the design that you would like to edit is located in and select the file that ends with .f4s

14. How do I save the Flash(R) file?

The Flash(R) file is automatically saved when you build an intro (aka pressed the build button in Flash4D).

15. How can I make the file sizes of designs smaller for dial-up viewers?

To shrink the loading time it would be best to rather have no music play and skip using any images in the Flash (less data to download) for dialup users.

16. Do I have to have the Macromedia Flash software to open the intro flash files?

You don't need to have the Macromedia software to open any intro files. The intro file can be viewed with Internet Explorer or any popular web browsing software. Consider opening the file with Internet Explorer, or try opening the html file that comes with the intro.

17. How can I re-open a Flash4D intro I just edited, or edit a saved intro, or make changes to an intro that I just made?

Flash4D v4 however allows you to edit the intro's information from the intro-data-example-file.f4s file (or a similar name) that is created in the flash_design_folder folder when you build and save your created design.

18. The sound doesn't play online with my intro when I put it on my website. How can I fix this?

A guess is that this is occuring because the server is not letting the Flash file "contact" or get the music file. It may also be the music swf file wasn't put in the same location as the intro swf file on the server.

One thing to check for is to see if the intro plays or if it just stays stuck loading. If it stays stuck at the loading point where it flashes the word loading at the top of the Flash means it can't access the music file.

If you can't get it to work at all, please Contact IntroWizard with a link to view your Flash intro online.

19. Does Flash4D produce the .FLA Flash files too?

Flash4D Home or Professional Editions don't produce .FLA files as well as the .SWF files although Professional Edition includes the .FLA files to the templates.

The included .FLA files with Flash4D Professional Edition don't have your changes on them but have sample text you can change in Macromedia Flash MX along with other changes you can add like images or take certain items out of the design that you may not want.

20. How can I add a Flash animation to Powerpoint to put it on a CD-Rom?

I'd like to let you know that to solve the question here you can use the trial of Flash4D v4 http://www.introwizard.com/downloads/flash4d.php >

When creating an intro, select the music area in the Customize window and make sure to select, 'No Music' if you would like to use the Flash in PowerPoint. Then, simply add the intro file ( the .swf intro file) to your PowerPoint after creating the design.

Selecting to have no music with the Flash intro is needed because PowerPoint only supports the addition of single Flash files. When you have music with the intro the Flash intro calls out for a music Flash file, although this may not be supported in PowerPoint.

As for inserting a Flash design into a PowerPoint presentation, please see this link: < www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14235 >/

You can also create a Flash animation that can play on a CD-Rom. What Flash4D does is it also provides an EXE file to play the Flash intro on the CD-Rom. You can easily turn your Flash Animation into a CD-Rom by selecting to create the Flash intro for a CD after creating your intro (it's one of the options available after the intro has been created).

By the way, if you're interested in purchasing Flash4D you may do so online for as little as $49 for Home Edition. You can even save a bit by starting your purchase from the trial.

21. When I click enter the Flash repeats itself instead of going to my website's next page.

The Flash also repeats itself when you click the enter button because the link that is set for the enter button to go to is the same page the Flash is on, so what it does is it will go to the same page and repeat the Flash. What you should do is set the Enter Button link to be: http://www.YourWebsite.com/TheNextOrMainPage.html so that it goes to that when the Enter button is clicked. This is called the page to go to after the enter button is clicked in the Flash4D program.

22. Clicking the Enter button gives me a security issue warning in Flash. How do I get around this?

The security issue only should come up when viewing the Flash intro on your computer desktop. You will need to put the intro online to make this security issue go away.

This is a feature of Flash that protects your computer from Flash applications that may try to connect online when you click something in them, like the Enter button.

If you put the intro on your website, you will see there should be no more security issue when viewing it from your website unless your Flash security settings have been changed to high settings.

23. When I click build the intro is not created it is just shown to me. Where can I find the saved intro?

When using Flash4D, when you click the build intro button the intro will be saved to your desktop in a folder called something similar to "flash_design_folder" or "flash-intro-folder." This should be located on your desktop and has the intro.swf file in there and the index.html webpage you can open to view your intro.

Flash4D just automatically opens this index.html webpage so that you can see your intro after it has been built and saved onto your desktop in the new folder it was created in.
